Delete your account

Open Account, scroll to Delete your account, and type DELETE to confirm. It happens immediately and you are signed out everywhere.

Email [email protected] from the address the account is registered to, with the word Delete in the subject. We use the address you write from to confirm the account is yours — which is why the request has to come from it, and why we cannot act on a request sent from another address.

You do not need to reinstall anything. We reply to confirm, and the deletion is completed within 30 days.

If you have lost access to the email address on the account, write to [email protected] and tell us so — we will work out another way to establish that the account is yours before we delete anything.

• Your account — your email address, your display name, your password, and your profile picture and meeting background if you set them.
• Your meetings — the title, code, schedule and settings of every meeting you created. The codes stop working.
• Your attendance — the record of the meetings you joined, and when you joined and left them.
• What you did in meetings — polls you created and votes you cast, questions you asked and upvoted, and waiting-room entries.
• Invitations — the email addresses you asked us to send meeting invitations to.

There is nothing to delete from recordings, captions or chat, because we never had them: meetings are not recorded, captions are produced on your own device and never reach us, and in-meeting chat is not stored. See the privacy policy.

• Payment records — the amount, currency, date and provider reference of payments you made. Tax and accounting rules require us to keep these for a fixed period, and they are kept for that and nothing else. They contain no card details, because we never had your card details: those are entered on Paystack's or Stripe's own pages and never touch our servers.
• Other people's meetings. If you attended a meeting somebody else hosted, their attendance record is theirs, not yours. Your name is removed from it; that a person attended is not.

A ShommyX Meet account is linked to a ShommyX account, which is what gives you the shared naira wallet. Deleting your Meet account deletes the Meet side of that. Tell us in the same email if you want the ShommyX account itself closed as well, and we will pass the request on — it is a separate product with its own records, so we will not close it unless you ask.

You do not have to close your account to remove something from it. Each of these takes effect immediately and needs no request to us:

• Your profile picture — Account, then Remove. The picture is deleted; your account and your name stay.
• A meeting — Cancel it from your meetings list. The meeting, its code and its attendance record are deleted, and the code stops working.
• A past meeting's record — remove that run from your list, and its attendance goes with it.
• A meeting background you uploaded — Remove it in the background picker.

For anything else, email [email protected] from the address on the account and tell us what you want removed. We reply to confirm and act within 30 days. Payment records are the one thing we cannot delete on request — see above for why.

If what you want is to stop paying rather than to disappear, you do not need this page. Cancel the plan from the Account panel: you keep everything you have paid for until the date it runs to, and nothing is charged again. Your account, your meeting codes and your history all stay.
